Tempus project goals: THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CENTER FOR COGNITIVE SCIENCES

The overall objective of the project is to establish the interdisciplinary Centre for Cognitive Sciences (Cog. Sc.) as a facility for study and research open for representatives of different scientific fields and Universitites in Croatia (HR) and abroad. The Centre will promote interdisciplinarity by bringing together teachers and researchers from different areas such as neuroscience, linguistics, speech and language pathology, psychology, electrical engineering, etc. It is envisaged that the Centre will create structural framework capable of offering working opportunities to lecturers/researchers, master/doctoral students from humanities, social, biomedical, technical and natural sciences, promoting interdisciplinarity, internationalisation, student and lecturers/researchers mobility.

The Centre will combine and integrate the present curricula in Interdisciplinary doctoral programme Language and Cognitive Neuroscience and the joint Middle European Interdisciplinary Master Programme in Cognitive Science into a new programme covering broader range of topics in cog. sc. (e.g. memory, perception, emotion etc.) and bringing together research on the same topics from different perspectives. This type of approach will guarantee a best use of the Centre's facilities and equipment by making it available for all interested lecturers/researchers, undergraduate/graduate/postgraduate students, colleagues from other universities in HR and abroad. This
Centre will be a real focal point for this activity in the entire country and beyond.

Prime target group of the Project dissemination strategy in Croatia will include, first of all, leading University professors and researchers from the area of Cognitive Sciences, post-graduate students, but also heads of University administrations, policymakers, governmental policy implementation agencies (like the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport, the Agency under the Ministry, Foundation, Ministry of Healthcare, etc.).
On the European side, the project will seek dissemination opportunities to address potential international cooperation partners for the Centre (both academic and research ones).
